Hello! Meet my first adoption boy :)

Post by ginger-ninja on Sun Feb 01, 2015 9:30 am

Hi guys!

I'm pretty new to rat keeping, but after walking past a PEW that had been in an adoption centre for over 6 months I couldn't resist! He's my first ratty in a long time, and I would like to get him some friends as I feel bad that he's been alone for so long. Trouble is, he's a bitey little thing towards humans ( although I think that's mostly fear related ), but I'm worried about how he'd react towards some new buddies!

Anyway for now, meet Sully Smile

He looks lovely, I have a soft spot for the PEWS. I have no rats of that colouring but a have had a few PEW guinea pigs over the years.

BM bargains gardening gloves, the cloth ones that fit neatly to your hands, offer some protection from biters, without hampering your ability to handle.

Most rodents come around really well with regular gentle handling, and plenty of treats. He might settle better on your lap or shoulder. Some are never really comfortable with hands - too much movement, lots of strange smells.

Welcome, sorry for being late to the party here. I'm sure you'll soon end up like the rest of us with cages of the delightful buggers XD
