Do you clip your rats nails?

Post by interceptor on Wed Jan 11, 2012 7:42 am

My wife is very susceptible to allergic reactions when handling rats and I used keep all of their nails trimmed. They never seemed to mind and I got very skilled at trimming the sharp tips off and this helped. My wife just wears a very heavy jumper when handling them now and I stopped trimming them but I notice Sheldons nails are getting quite long.

I trim one of our hamsters nails but his grow very quickly and curl inward so I need to do it to prevent him getting hurt.

I clip just before a show, or if they really are evil sharp - but other than that not really, for no reason other than laziness, and I don't mind being scratched!
