Post by Shirodoragon on Tue May 29, 2012 1:37 pm

Well one of my little girls has a bit of a sore eye (at least i think so, its always been kinda more closed then the other but its a little bit inflamed looking) and as im not liking vets atm i was wondering if you can get special eye drops or is there any consumer ones you can buy that are safe etc etc ^^ Smile

You can get Optrex Infected Eyes - which is Chloramphenicol - but I don't know that I'd use it on something not serious. Best of perhaps going to the vet and explaining the problem, and asking for Fucithalmic Eye Ointment. They may want to see the rat though - but hopefully they'll not need to.

xx

My only experience of eye drops were maxitrol drops I got from my vet when Albie and Twoflower had eye problems. I don't know much about them other than they contain 2 types of anti-biotic and anti-inflammatory. My vet did say though they can do damage if there is an abscess on the eye, so if you're going to get them the rat needs to be tested for abscess.

Thanks! Her eye seems fine again today Smile I wiped her down with some sterile water lastnight and she seemed okay, I wonder if rats suffer from hayfever (with all this warm weather) I know i am xD
