Getting a new rat

I'll be getting a pet rat soon and I'm wondering where I could get one and how should I prepare Confused

Hi there,

You're in the right place to find out more! Smile You really should get more than one, no good breeder would ever let one go on its own. We do not advise going to petshops or less ethical breeders, because frequently the rats are unhandled, from lines with poor temperaments, or not bred for temperament or health. Often (certainly with petshops) the rats come to you mis-sexed and pregnant etc.

There's much to think about - really though, rescue or good, responsible breeders are the best way to go Smile
