Bandit had a lump

Post by Rizzo on Mon Jun 10, 2013 7:05 am

I noticed Bandit had a lump on his tummy the size of a pea on Thursady, had a look today and it has not changed. I assumed Vince might have nicked him. JUst wondering if anyone has experienced this before. Do I need to take him to the vet?

It sounds like a cyst - I've seen it twice with rats I've had, it's just a weeny lump that's in the skin about the size of a pea or less. It's just gone away in my cases, not burst or anything unless I didn't notice it, so I wouldn't start to panic unless it's growing Smile Do you have any idea what the skin looks like under his fur? It's it red or inflamed?

Hi Siofraidh.
The lump is under the skin and the skin on the surface looks normal. No redness or inflamation. It doesn't seem to be causing him any discomfort.

I tried there. It isn't really noticeable I can just feel it. It's just in the baggy skin on his abdomen.

Just an update. Bandit's lump has not gotten bigger or smaller. I'd say it is a cyst. He's not out of sorts or anything. Will keep a close eye on him

Sounds like it probably is a cyst or abscess. Keep an eye, and if it grows much over then ext few weeks, try and get it removed Smile
