Pesky flies, yok!

Post by limerickrats on Sat Jul 20, 2013 3:08 am

Is this a problem for anyone else at the moment?

The boys' poop is attracting flies! Lips Sealed

I clean out all the poop at least once a day. I'm a bit mad but I generally pick it out with a tweezers and it goes in the 'litter locker.'

Opened the litter locker last night to be greeted by thousands of maggots working their way up and out! Shocked

Well I assume they are fly maggots, they're very small. For one awful moment I thought the boys must have worms and these were larvae! Shocked

Don't worry too much, it's nasty but not armful, these aren't the sort that cause flystrike etc, that tends to be blue and green bottles, these are more like fruit flies. It's this weather though, it's awful! Just keep it as clean as you can.

xx

They're yokky little feckers. I wouldn't mind if I actually had fruit or any other foodstuff in the house! Big Grin
